An Interactive Workshop & PD
Brand Tantrum Tower™ (BTT) is an interactive, hands-on team-building activity designed to strengthen public speaking and essential workplace competencies such as communication under pressure, creative problem-solving, trust, role clarity, and collaborative strategy execution.
Originally developed in 2018 by branding and digital marketing communications consultant, Christopher Elliott, the activity draws from over a decade of workshop facilitation across relationship dynamics, team communication, public speaking, and brand development. Participants will find this challenge both fun and illuminating; as it spotlights communication breakdowns, leadership assumptions, and innovation barriers in real time.
Additionally, participants will experience tension between instruction and execution, collaboration, and control; mirroring real workplace dynamics where individuals may choose whether to follow leadership guidance, and leaders must influence without direct authority.
THE SET-UP!
The room is broken up into pairs of two, seated across from each other.
IT'S A SIMPLE CHALLENGE!
The goal is simple on the surface: build the tallest possible free-standing vertical structure using only the supplies provided.
BUT...THERE'S A FUN TWIST!
The twist? Only one person can build, and only one person can speak.

This activity has engaged over 200 participants representing diverse sectors and backgrounds, including college students, nonprofit leaders, academic staff, and business professionals. It has been facilitated with participants from the U.S. and ESL attendees from France, Spain, Peru, Russia, Thailand, Japan, England, Brazil, and Korea. This uniquely adaptive experience consistently challenges teams to collaborate under constraint, communicate with clarity, and reflect on how they lead, follow, and adapt.
